Hi, I’m Sarah from Wyzowl and I’m about to show you how you can promote your video. Keep watching for six top tips.
1. Write a blog
Writing a blog post about your video is a good place to start but rather than simply uploading the video embed code we suggest you optimise the page so that your audience can easily find it. We’d recommend that you include the key word of your video in the URL, meta description and page heading. Write a short summary about your video content or even include the transcript, and add social sharing buttons so people can promote the video for you.
So if you’re watching this from our blog, your page should look a little like the one you’re looking at right now.
2. Share it on social
Aside from posting the video to all of your social media channels we have a few more tricks up our sleeve that could help you out.
- Tease your audience with stills or mini clips from the video and then link back to the content.
- Set it as your featured video on your Facebook page.
- Tweet about it and then pin that tweet to your page so whenever someone visits your timeline your video will be the first tweet that they see.
- Post it in relevant communities, on Linkedin or Google+.
- Create some shiny banners with a call to action to your video so that you can feature them on the homepage of all of your social platforms.
- Join in with relevant Twitter chats and casually slip in a link to your video.
3. Email your database
Email is a quick way to get your video in front of a lot of people all at once, but video doesn’t always play nicely with email clients. So to get around this we suggest to use an engaging static image from the video and then place a play button over the top of it.
Like this…
That way the person can push play and be taken through to watch it on your site. We actually wrote a blog about this recently so click here to find out more.
4. Outreach to influencers
You know those influencers and bloggers within your industry that have thousands of followers and a domain authority of a hundred? Yep we’re envious too, but those influencers can help you get your video in front of their huge audience. The key is to find content on their blog that is relevant to your video.
So, you can send them an email and say, “Hey, I checked out your content, I think it’s awesome and I’ve actually created a video I think your audience are going to love and would you mind sharing it for me?”
5. Write a guest post
Did you know that most influencers will let you write a guest post for them on their site?
It’s a win win situation because you’re swapping free content for a link back to your site from a highly authoritative domain. Just make sure you’re not overly promotional and you make to content relevant to your video. Check out Buzzsumo to find influencers within your industry.
6. Advertise!
If you have a little bit of extra budget why not pay to promote your video? You can use the content in retargeting ads, display ads or pay to promote it on social. That way you’re guaranteed to get your video in front of people who actually want to see it.
So there you have it six ways to promote your video. All that’s left for you to do is to put these into action, good luck!
