What is a teaser video?

A teaser video is a short promotional video that provides a glimpse or preview of a product, service, new feature, or event. It’s designed to build interest, anticipation, and curiosity among the audience by revealing just enough information to capture their interest – without giving away ALL the details! Teaser videos aim to generate buzz and drive engagement…ultimately enticing viewers to learn more or take action.

When should you use a teaser video?

A teaser video should be used when you want to generate excitement ahead of a product launch, service release, or event. It’s a great way to promote something new or upcoming – and you can do it even before that ‘thing’ is fully developed or available. Teaser videos are also a great way to gauge response – noticing things people like and don’t like about a new product or service lets you iterate ahead of your full reveal and release. Teaser videos can be shared on various platforms, including your website, social media, and even offline channels, to generate interest and momentum in your marketing campaign.

What type of content should you include in a teaser video?

In a teaser video, you should include content that captures attention and leaves the audience wanting more. It should provide a glimpse or highlights of the event, product or service, while creating intrigue and curiosity. It’s also about what you DON’T include – a sense of mystery helps create an effective teaser video as it gets your audience speculating. Use engaging visuals, captivating storytelling, and compelling messaging to convey the essence of what you’re offering. Keep it concise, impactful, and focused on generating excitement. The goal is to tease the target audience and leave them eager to learn more about your offering. Think of it like a movie trailer – it needs to show enough to get people excited, but not too much that they don’t need to buy a ticket to go and see the full movie!

What are the benefits of teaser videos?

Teaser videos offer several benefits for marketing and promotional purposes. As well as drumming up excitement about your product, service or event, they also allow for early promotion – potentially getting your big launch on people’s radar before full development is complete. In turn, that gives you an opportunity to listen and iterate, optimising your chances of delivering an end product that delights your audience.

We wanted to open the window to our site without people having to register or make a commitment. Tools like an explainer video are key for us to explain what we’re all about. Wyzowl enhanced the ideas we had for the video and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

How much does it cost to create teaser videos?

The cost of creating a teaser video can vary depending on several factors, such as the length of the video, complexity of the animation or production, level of customisation, and the expertise of the video production company. Prices can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. It’s best to consult with video production companies and let them know your specific requirements to get accurate pricing information.

How long should a teaser video be?

The ideal length for a teaser video is typically between 15 to 60 seconds and, actually, can be even shorter than that if necessary. It should be short enough to maintain viewers’ attention and create a sense of intrigue, while still providing enough information to generate interest and anticipation. Keeping the video concise and focused allows for quick consumption and easy sharing on various platforms. By capturing attention within a short timeframe, teaser videos can effectively pique curiosity and entice viewers to explore further.

How can a teaser video build hype or excitement?

We have a simple training video production process that uses fixed turnarounds for each deliverable throughout the training video production process. However, the total time taken depends on how quickly you can provide feedback on our work, and how many rounds of changes are required. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but the whole thing generally takes about 6-8 weeks. If you need training videos more urgently than this, let us know and we’ll see what we can do!

Where should teaser videos be promoted?

You can create interest by sharing your completed teaser video on your website, social media platforms and further afield – even boosting with ad spend to go beyond your existing audience. If you wanted to, you could even go beyond online platforms – we’ve seen teaser videos displayed at events, on physical billboards in cities around the world, and even showcased on TV.

Teaser Video FAQs

Got questions about our service, us or how it all works? See a few of the most common questions we get below.

How long does the teaser video production process take?

We work to fixed turnarounds, but – because we offer unlimited revisions – a lot depends on how quickly you can provide feedback and how many times we need to work on each stage between us. A typical teaser video can be created in 4-6 weeks.

What are the ideal use cases for teaser videos?

Teaser videos are ideal for various use cases. They can be used to build interest ahead of product launches, feature releases, or upcoming events. They’re an effective way to create buzz and excitement around new services or updates. They also work well to promote crowdfunding campaigns, generate interest in upcoming announcements, or create curiosity for a brand’s upcoming content or offerings. Teaser videos also work well for introducing a new brand or product line, grabbing the audience’s attention and leaving them eager for more information.

How will you ensure our brand style and messaging is incorporated?

To ensure your brand style and messaging are incorporated into the teaser video, we will follow a collaborative process. We will begin by thoroughly understanding your brand guidelines, target audience, and key messaging. Our team will work closely with you, providing drafts and seeking your feedback at each stage of the production process, including scriptwriting, storyboard creation, graphics development, and animation. Your input and revisions will be incorporated to align the visual and verbal elements of the teaser video with your brand style and messaging, ensuring a cohesive and on-brand final product.

What are your top tips for creating truly effective teaser videos?

Like all videos, the best teasers obviously rely on great design and animation to show your brand in its best light. From a story point of view it’s important to keep in mind that you’re creating a teaser video – this means giving away just enough information to get people excited. Leave your audience needing to know more! On a similar point, in an age where attention spans are shorter than ever, the first few seconds should always pack the biggest punch possible.

Are teaser videos like movie trailers?

They’re really similar! Movie trailers are designed to get people excited about movies by giving viewers just the ‘essence’ of that movie. You’re not giving your audience the whole thing – otherwise they’d never buy a ticket to see the movie! – but you have to provide enough info to get them excited. And when you deliver on the promise of your teaser? You’ve got a happy audience!

Can we use a ‘cut down’ version of a full video as a teaser?

Yes, this often works quite well – and can save you some money! By creating a full video showing off a new product or service, you can then repurpose that into teaser content with short, cut-down versions of the video offering a tantalising glimpse to your audience! This is often a cheaper way to do it than creating a bespoke teaser.
